“Westmead is located in the Parramatta Local Government Area in Sydney, Australia. The population was estimated at 16,859 in 2016. The suburb is home to the Westmead Hospital, a major teaching and research hospital.
Westmead was originally part of the Parish of St John the Baptist, which was subdivided in 1836. A township developed around the Westmead railway station in the 1880s. In 1906, part of the area was separated to form Granville. The hospital opened in 1951.
