“Doonside is located in the Blacktown local government area of New South Wales, Australia. The population of Doonside was 9,872 as of the 2016 census. Doonside is a suburb of Sydney and is located approximately 24 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the Blacktown area.
Doonside was originally part of the Parish of Blacktown which was proclaimed on 7 March 1838. The name Doonside is derived from an early landowner in the area, Donald McLeod who had a property named DoonSide. Doonside railway station opened on 2 December 1895.
The suburb is surrounded by other suburbs including: Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Plumpton, and Horsley Park.”
