“Peakhurst is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Peakhurst is located 16 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Georges River Council.
The population of Peakhurst was 2,527 at the 2016 census. Peakhurst is a mostly residential suburb with some small businesses along its main roads.
Peakhurst was named after the estate of James Peak, who ran a ferry service from Sutherland to Woronora. The area was originally known as “The Ferries” and “Woronora Ferry”. Development began in the early 1900s and continued until World War II. Most houses were built between the wars in an Arts and Crafts style.
Peakhurst is surrounded by other suburbs including Menai, Bangor, Illawong, Alfords Point and Engadine.”
