“Frenchs Forest is a suburb of northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Frenchs Forest is located 25 kilometres (16 mi) north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council.
The population of Frenchs Forest was 8,723 at the 2016 census. Prior to European settlement the area was inhabited by the Darug people. The first European settler was John Palmer, who arrived in 1809. Frenchs Forest was named after Edward French, who purchased the land in 1837.
The suburb developed in the 1960s and 1970s. It is bordered to the north by Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and Garigal National Park, to the east by Dee Why Beach and Curl Curl Beach, and to the south by Belrose. The main road through Frenchs Forest is Forest Way.
