“Bay View is a suburb located in the Municipality of Woollahra, New South Wales, Australia. The population of Bay View was 2,898 as of the 2016 census. The suburb is located on Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and is situated between Bondi and Double Bay.
Bay View was first developed in the early 1880s as part of the Randwick estate. The suburb was originally known as “Bellevue Hill”, but this was changed in 1916 due to confusion with Bellevue Hill in Sydney’s North Shore. The name “Bay View” was suggested by a local resident and was adopted by the Council in December 1916.
