“Waverton is a suburb on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Waverton is located 4 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Willoughby.
The population of Waverton was 2,381 as at the 2016 census. Prior to European settlement, the area was home to the Cammeraygal people. In 1821, Charles Howe granted land in the area to William Weaver, after whom the suburb was named. Development in Waverton began in earnest in the 1880s, with most homes constructed during the 1890s. Many of Waverton’s homes are heritage-listed, including those on Bay Road and McKinnon Parade.
Waverton is bordered by Lane Cove National Park to the east and north, and by Middle Harbour to the west. The suburb is served by Waverton railway station on Sydney Trains’ North Shore Line.”
