Information on The Suburb, Dural We Are Serving
“Dural is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Dural is located in the Hills District, 26 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of The Hills Shire. The population was 4,811 at the 2016 census. Dural is bounded to the north by Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill, to the east by Kellyville Ridge, to the south by Cherrybrook and to the west by Glenhaven.
Dural is believed to have been named after Durham in England. The first land grant in the area was made to James Shepherd in 1823. John Anderson purchased the property in 1839 and built Scots College on it in 1847. A village grew up around the college and was known as Anderson’s Hill. The railway station opened in 1858 and was originally called “Shepherd’s Hill”. The name was changed to “Dural” in 1913.”
