“Woollahra is located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The population was estimated to be 11,000 in 2016. Woollahra is a local government area (LGA) and the suburb is located within the Municipality of Woollahra. The Municipality of Woollahra includes Bondi, Bellevue Hill and Paddington. Woollahra is surrounded by other suburbs including Edgecliff, Double Bay, Rose Bay, Darling Point and Potts Point.
Woollahra was first settled by Europeans in 1835. The area was originally known as ‘The Five Dock Farm’. In 1838, the land was purchased by Captain John Piper and he renamed it ‘Woollahra’ which means ‘place of many waters’ in the Aboriginal language. Woollahra became an LGA in its own right in 1906.”
