“Glebe is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Glebe is located 3 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and is part of the local government area of the City of Sydney. Glebe has a population of approximately 11,000 people.
The first recorded European settler in Glebe was Anthony Kennedy in 1801. The Glebe estate was subdivided in 1858 and sold off in lots. The area attracted many religious groups who set up churches and missions in the area. One of the earliest buildings to be constructed in Glebe was the Female Orphan Asylum which was built in 1864.
The surrounding suburbs are Chippendale to the east, Ultimo to the south, Rozelle to the north and Forest Lodge and Leichhardt to the west.”
